Proposed Negley Park Tree Removal

Following a CD/P&R Committee walk through at Negley Park in June to spotlight problem areas and look for opportunities for improvements, trees were the main subject of discussion. Many ornamental pear and other inferior trees have grown so much that the incredible view of the river and cityscape has been all but obliterated. We asked the Shade Tree Commission (STC) to assess the situation and make a recommendation to Council. The STC recommends that 14 trees along the lower pathway (and two other locations) be removed to open up the view. Council may take action on this recommendation following consultations with arborists before the end of the year.
